London, the Summer Musical

It's time to gear up for the Summer Olympics 2012 in London, UK! 50 days to go, can you believe it?
As we get closer to this wonderful sports event, there'll also be a musical presented by Sunway Lagoon right here, in Malaysia!

I have never been to a musical, and since I would be in Sunway area soon, I strongly hope that I can catch a musical there! The stars are going presenting songs from popular musicals. And it's about LONDON, my favourite city! Amazing!

And therefore,
I am here today to answer this question from Nuffang in order to win myself a pair of tickets to this much-anticipated musical - London, the Summer Musical. Sing Away Your Summer Days With Sunway Lagoon!

If you had the chance to direct one slot of the musical, which song would you choose and how would you imagine the scene to be?

I would choose London by Night by Frank Sinatra. An old, classic song, that allows us picture how London is like when the sun goes down, and while each Londoner dreams. This song would suit this musical perfectly, as the story revolves around three female stewardesses who fly from New York to London and  have a romantic encounter with three London boys during their stopover.

So how would the scene be, then?

As the lyrics go, "London by night is a wonderful sight. There is magic abroad in the air. I'm often told that the streets turn to gold. When the moon shines on Circus and Square "

The scene, I hope, would be equipped with an attractive, high-tech backdrop that moves with the actors, with Tower Bridge, Big Ben in the background, and of course the London Eye as well, with its lights on.

The movements of this particular scene would be slow and steady, as the main actor and actress would walk into the center of the stage at a slow pace. A bench would be placed in the centre, with beautiful, scented flowers. They would start with a short conversation, and then begin the song, "London by Night" to let the audience enjoy every little moment as they listen to the lyrics, settling thoughts in their minds. A simple song, with wonderful, thoughtful lyrics, would leave a great impression, and at the same time pay tribute to London, the amazing city hosting the Summer Olympics 2012.

The main actor and actress would also act as the song goes on. They look into each other's eyes with deep thoughts. They would do a slow-dance, too. This scene, would be a romantic and touching scene, and may also be used as the final scene, where they end with a kiss after the lyrics "My love and I saw the sun leave the sky. Then we kissed in the fast-fading light".

This scene, would add depths to the musical, and leave the story hauntingly, beautifully stuck in the heads of the audiences, even after months.

  1. Frank Sinatra is definitely a good selection! I like how you associate it with the night time - something we all have to embrace! I hope you win the tickets to watch this musical, your very first musical. I love musicals - watched 6 of them in West End already. Many more to come, I hope.
