Had a pretty freaky encounter in ★bucks last night. Was playing my phone while waiting for the drinks to come and suddenly a lady came to me and said hello. I had no choice but to look at her.
And then she started to say, "Jiejie, ni hao, wo shi lai dai gei ni zhi xun de," which simply means "Hi elder sis, I'm here to tell you something/ bring you some information."
And she handed out her hand and initiated a handshake. It was a tense (well, quite) situation as I didn't know what to do, and I didn't think it was right to shake her hand, just in case anything bad happens. Plus, she looked 10 years older than me and was calling me "Jie Jie" repeatedly. So I told myself that something must be wrong, and she started to ask if I could speak Mandarin.
I reminded myself not to reveal too much, and after more or less a minute, I finally stood up & left my seat. I shook my head at all her questions and left in a hurry. I was mentally struggling - " is she going to harm me? What should I do?" and there were barely anyone near me.
No one knew what would have happened. The lady could have been wanting to steal my phone, or harm me in any way, or maybe just a kind person asking for direction, but I didn't think taking the risk was the right thing to do.
I'm glad that I walked away. And she left as well.
Thank God. Because of Him, I'm safe.
